 JANUARY

Varsity hockey won the Bill Hanson Invitational for the first time since 2022.

Varsity basketball won the Garden City Classic for the first time in three years.

Two new classrooms opened as part of the newly renovated McNally Courtyard. Robotics team captains Finn Pavlik ’26 and Kevin Maguire ’26 cut the ribbon of the engineering and robotics classroom.

As part of our Catholic Schools Week activities, CMTV aired a special and its most ambitious episode in which students were interviewed on the impact CM has had on their lives in academics, the arts, athletics, and faith.

FEBRUARY

A group of 12 students spent the week of February break immersed in a life of poverty and wealth disparity in Lima, Peru as part of our Blessed Edmund Rice Service Initiative (BERSI) programming. In addition to seeing the sights, our boys built a new home for a family whose daily wage is less than $12.00 USD. Students lived without running water, money, or cell phones for the week - and found themselves connecting deeply with the humans and animals they met along their journey.

Brock Maniatis ’27 created a nonprofit, Project Socks, through which nearly 4,000 pairs of socks were collected and donated to various homeless shelters, veteran programs, and community groups. Maniatis was interviewed by WBZ 1030 AM for his incredible work.

The Monsignor Donahue chapter of the National Honor Society welcomed 54 new members.

MARCH

Former New England Patriots legend Devin McCourty spoke to our students about the importance of leadership and commitment, not only in sports, but in life. The visit was made possible by Ken Martin ’77.

The Feast of Saint Patrick Mass was hosted by Archbishop Richard Henning. Following Mass, His Excellency visited with students and learned about senior service projects.

Our eighth Kairos retreat provided 28 juniors, seniors, and faculty members with a weekend of reflection and intentional time with God. David Gellene ’27 regarded the retreat as “a feeling of magnitude by experiencing other people’s stories.”

The spring musical was Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “School of Rock.” Rocky Vankoski ’26 played musician turned fake teacher Dewey Finn, and Will Berlucchi ’26 played his best friend Ned Schneebly. The cast also featured a record 11 teachers.

The return of CM’s Scholarship Breakfast brought together our scholarship benefactors to sit and enjoy a meal with their student recipients.

At the spring blood drive for the American Red Cross, the CM community donated enough blood to save 108 people.

Our marketing and communications team won five gold medals at this year’s Educational Advertising Awards. Over 1,000 colleges, universities, and secondary schools submitted entries to this year’s awards. Judges consisted of a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, and marketing professionals.

APRIL

For the seventh year in a row and ninth time in ten years, CM won the Massachusetts Speech and Debate League Championship, continuing the unprecedented run with a new generation of competitors like Jacob Dubrovsky ’28 (Big Question Debate) and Spencer Moller ’29 (Lincoln-Douglas Debate). Individual titles were won by Jude Kaleba ’27 (Prose), Arias Llopiz ’28 (Play Reading), and Thomas Tessier ’27 (Radio).

Swimmer Jordan Kinch ’26 represented Barbados in the CARIFTA Games, a prestigious youth competition for Caribbean nations. He placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke.

MAY

On May 7, we saw the largest single-day gift income in CM history at the inaugural Today, Every Day: CM. The day’s events celebrated legacy, extraordinary alumni, and community in a collective effort that raised $700K to keep Catholic Memorial unwavering in its commitment to boys’ education.

We celebrated our Founder’s Day Mass, which calls us to pause and remember the work of the founder of the Christian Brothers, Blessed Edmund Rice, as well as our own Christian Brothers. Br. Anthony Cavet, Br. Kirk Phelps, Br. John Brennan ’62, and Br. John Dornbos received a standing ovation from our school community.

This year’s graduation saw the 110 members of the class of 2026 receive degrees on May 21 joining the ranks of over 11,500 students who have gone before them. Valedictorian William Link ’26 (Northeastern University) and Salutatorian William Lightfoot ’26 (Case Western Reserve University) gave the customary addresses to a crowd of their fellow, graduate Knights and CM’s parent and family communities. Guest speaker was Matt Curran ’98, EVP, Corporate Development of NWN.
